I was so impressed with one of my students yesterday during his 1-on-1 session! Prior to the workout he felt bad that his shots weren't falling in games, so I took him through a few drills that's targeted at building confidence. After he felt good about his shot, I push him for an hour of INTENSE shooting with the PROPER form! At one time during the workout, he made 49 shots out of 60 shot attempts! That's impressive on any level. He left the gym knowing he'd accomplished something and he was extremely proud of himself!
Sometimes all we need is a little encouragement and belief in ourselves!!!

Qualities of great point guards..
1.) Great point guards have to start with playing defense...
a. First line of defense starts with the point guard...
b. Sets the tone for how the team needs to compete...
c. Defense jump starts the offense...
2.) Great point guards have to know how to run a team...
a. Must be an extension of the coach on the floor...
b. A vocal leader...
c. Needs to understand every component of the offense and be ready
to add wrinkles at every given opportunity...
3.) Great point guards know when to take a shot or create a shot
for someone else...
a. PG rule- if you're open and in your comfort range, never hesitate
and take that shot 100% of the time...
b. Know who your shot makers are and where they like to
receive the ball...
c. Always keep the defense honest by mixing it up with inside
and outside shot attempts...
Great point guards are tough and have a fiery spirit, they are aggressive on both sides of the floor but I think the most important quality all great point guards have is PASSION...

"If you train hard, you'll not only be hard, you'll be hard to beat!!!"
"you have to expect things from yourself before you can do them..."
"The only place where success comes before hard work is in the dictionary..."
"There is no I in team but there is in win..."
"what's the difference between a 3-week old puppy and a sportswriter??? In six weeks, the puppy stops whining..."
"At the end of the day, I have an old school spirit... Respect the champions of the past because they inspire future champions..."

My name is Chauncey L. Jones and I’m the CEO of Ball Like Me Sports Management, Inc., where even the best athletes get better. I want to share with you a little of my past experiences with basketball. I have been playing organized basketball since I was 8 years old. The first team I played for was the blue team in the Oak Park YMCA youth league, wow it’s really ironic that I started my career in Oak Park now I’m helping start careers in Oak Park, now that’s what I call coming full circle, what an awesome feeling. I went onto becoming the starting point guard for my elementary; high school and college teams. Over a three year span starting with my senior year in high school up until my second year in college as a starting point guard I posted a record of 95 wins to only 10 losses, so I think I know a little something about winning. Basketball has given me the opportunity to see the world and meet so many interesting people. Now I want to share my experience with your kids. I want to teach the skills I’ve been privileged to learn over the years.
At Ball Like Me Sports Management, Inc. we provide kids with the skills to win, not only in sports but in life as well. Our mentorship program offers a lot of real world views from major winners in life. Our mentors vary from the dental field; Business Managers of major corporations and College Professors and they’re really good at stressing the importance of education and self- respect. I started this company because I wanted to help kids get the proper training they need to have successful careers. I want them to get advanced training right from the start. I feel I’m a very good trainer, why? I’ll tell you a quick story, I started training this kid 18 weeks ago, he had never played basketball but his Mother had a good feeling about me, I guess my presentation was pretty good. When we started this kid couldn’t shoot; dribble and didn’t have any concept of the game. After 18 weeks I’m proud to say he is a player. He has an identity now. He can shoot, pass, dribble but more importantly he competes well and has more confidence on and off the court. I believe in myself, I believe this is a global movement and most of all I believe this is what God wants me to do. Ball Like Me Sports Management, Inc. where Real training = Real results.
